“Benjamin Franklin” Theoretical High School, situated at the outskirts of Bucharest, Romania provides educational background and it offers professional and personal development to 1200 students, including distance learning students. It is an educational support within a motivational frame to learn and to continue studies so as to attain specific competences in different areas. The regular courses are humanistic, mathematics and science (mathematics – informatics, natural sciences), vocational and adult courses: humanistic (philosophy), mathematics and science (mathematics – informatics, natural sciences)
It has fifty qualified teachers all of them offering bridges to efficient communication and to explore knowledge. The teachers take part in many extra curricular activities and get involved in raising awareness of the importance of education. In addition, it offers material resources (labs, smart boards, computers, European club etc.).
“Benjamin Franklin” High School is a promoter of developing new teaching-learning approaches, an organizer of workshops “The Decade of The Advanced Technology” and “The Year of Continuous Training”, a coordinator of lifelong learning programmes: Comenius, Grundtvig, e-twinning etc. The aim of the lifelong programmes run in the school is to motivate our students to develop linguistic and ICT skills, to gain experience by learning, to work in teams and to become more responsible. Beside this, the successfully developed activities: “The Best of Us” – competition, “Days of Benjamin Franklin High School”, “The Francophones’ Club, Informatics Classes – taught by the volunteering Korean, The 2000+ Education Programme, Spring Vibration – Ecological Education Project, Kado, The Eu/Ro Agenda, “The Clean Romania” Programme etc. Last but not least the “Benjamins” awarded magazines are: “Epsilon” (the Mathematics magazine), “Evrika” (the Physics magazine) and “Joc Secund” (the Romanian magazine).
It is also worth mentioning the partnership with the local community, through the Parents’ Committee and the Students’ Council both actively involved in the extra-curricular activities.
Our targets are:
Quality assurance - improving teaching and learning process.
To prepare our school as well as the management team for the decentralization system implementation.
To motivate teachers to explore the most recent ideas in methodology and specific scientific theory.
To modernize the technical and material resources.
To bring our school close to European standards.
To promote our school image.
To develop partnerships with the local community.
