High School "D. Alighieri"
"Dante Alighieri" High school continues the academic education offered between 1958 and 1989. Since 1990, the High school has become a school with theoretical bilingual classes (Romanian-Italian). "Dante Alighieri" High school provides a safe learning environment where all students are held accountable and reach high levels of academic achievement.
We value open communication between parents, students, and teachers. Our school fosters a spirit of lifelong learning and establishes a community of productive citizens. We promote intellectual curiosity and creative thinking where the entire community, the arts, sports and all cultures are valued.
Vision:
Through the use of positive behaviour interventions and assertive discipline we will make our students secure and safe. In addition, by providing team building for staff, students, and parents, open communication will become an integral part of our community. Our school fosters success through exemplifying diverse life accomplishment. Our students are provided with rigorous curricula, instruction, and assessment aligned with the EU Standards while being immersed in the arts, sports. Professional development for parents and teachers is the means to improving instruction and growth for our entire community.
Strengths:
• "Dante Alighieri" High school’s talent department works with outside organizations and invite artists to work with our students and help students discover their talents, abilities and specific skills.
• We have always been an advocate of using Bloom’s Taxonomy and using the theory of Multiple Intelligence to improve on our students’ higher order thinking skills, and these practices are incorporated throughout the foreign languages classes, arts, and sports. This is an excellent way to promote diversity and an appreciation for all cultures.
• The foreign languages department effectively addresses the needs of the Italian, English and French language learners.
• Students in greatest need of improvement are identified and receive effective academic intervention services. The Italian Cultural Institute supports our programme.
National and international projects:
•"Dante Alighieri" High school’ students and teachers as well took part in national and international projects. The students also are engaged in cultural exchanges with schools from Italy, thanks to the Italian Cultural Institute - priority objective of the European integration.
•The development of the activities had as main goal the best capitalization of the 22 classrooms, six laboratories with the appropriate annexes, the Italian and the English cabinets, three IT laboratories, mathematics, history and geography, Romanian literature, the library with over 24,500 books including over 2000 in Italian and other sources in 2123.
•"Dante Alighieri" High school gives great importance to the study of the Italian language creating Italian bilingual classes for secondary education and classes with Italian as mother tongue for secondary school.

International project ETwinnig Romania-Poland - "Romanian-Polish Encyclopedia"
"Cisco IT Essentials” is the first course in computer networking held in "Dante Alighieri" High school
The course provides the "ABC" of the networking and the Internet, in order to provide solutions to any computer-related problem. The course also enables students to get future job in IT.
ECDL “European Computer Driving Licence” •
These projects are either within the “eTwinning” programme or the “ThinkQuest” project. This year we are developing the project "The Colour of Music" in collaboration with partner schools in Poland, Turkey and Slovenia.
eTwinning ActionOur school is part of several international projects with partner schools in the country and abroad.
•Last year our school was part of a partnership project with Zespól Szkól Publicznych Publiczne Gimnazjum nr 1 w Bystrzycy Starej, Lublin, Poland, International E-Twinning Programme. The name of the project is: "Romanian - English - Polish Dictionary”.
•Starting with this school year, our school has become official partner of Oracle Academy for the development of the Oracle programme- Oracle school. In the twelfth grade, our students in mathematics and computing/IT classes are studying within the Database Design modules - Database Design and Database Programming with SQL - Database programming using SQL
•The course ends with an online exam. After passing the exam, students receive an internationally recognized IT technical certification offered by the Oracle Academy.
The Sport in Dante
•It is a school where sport is not only done for pleasure but for competition, too; we won many medals and cups in various competitions.
•Volleyball, basketball and football teams are trained and supervised by excellent teachers
