PROFILE, STRUCTURE AND ATTRIBUTIONS OF BUCHAREST’s SCHOOL INSPECTORATE
The Bucharest’s School Inspectorate is an institution that coordinates education in the whole pre-academic educational system of country’s capital.
Its role is to monitor that the provisions stipulated in the National Law of Education are fulfil within municipality’s schools. Besides its role to control and evaluate the local schooling system in relation to the national objectives and curriculum, the inspectorate also monitors and counsels each school’s activity with a view to self-evaluation and self-improvement procedure. The school inspection center its attention on legality and quality aspects within the teaching and learning process in terms of school’s results and performance, with concrete purpose of improving the school’s activities and its educational partners in order to increase quality and standards of achievement.
The structure of Bucharest’s School Inspectorate was approved by the Ministry of Education and Research through O.M.E.C. (Order issued by the Minister) nr. 3870/27.05.2002. According to its structure, the management functions are performed by General School Inspector and three deputy general school inspectors.
The Bucharest’s School Inspectorate is organized in 14 functional departments, to which The Municipal Centre of Psycho-Pedagogical Assistance and Teachers’ Training Centre are added, as distinct subordinate institutions.
MISSION STATEMENT
The School Inspectorate of Bucharest supports „education in motion”, oriented towards democratic and humanistic values, which gives the chance to every child, young man and teacher to become high achievers in a friendly and motivating environment and to be able to adequately meet the requirements of a changing society. Its role is to ensure the implementation of the national curriculum, the national educational policies and guidelines through supervision, counseling, monitoring and evaluation of the educational institutions under its jurisdiction."

The “Projects and Programmes” Department within the School Inspectorate of Bucharest coordinates the educational projects developed by the institution, offers counselling on the projects developed by schools and provides the dissemination of the results in the projects implemented in the educational system in Bucharest.
